The 4 Star, AA Rosette Grand Hotel occupies pride of place on the Torbay seafront, commanding majestic views over the bay and out to sea. Since being purchased by the Richardson Group in 2001, it has undergone a sympathetic restoration that has exposed its magnificent Victorian and Art Deco architectural characteristics.

The hotel has 117 bedrooms, 7 of which are Premier suites. The majority of rooms embrace the wonderful sea view and Torbay coastline. All are decorated to a high standard and include all of the facilities and extras you would expect in a 4 Star hotel - the only 4 Star establishment in the bay.

Restaurant

Eating at the Grand is a pleasurable experience and the Gainsborough Restaurant holds a coveted Rosette award from the AA for its cuisine.

Dinner is a leisurely feast with Table d’Hote and A La Carte menus of locally sourced ingredients from the abundant Devon larder, with fish from coastal waters - all mixed with flair, imagination and flavour uppermost in mind.

The spacious and elegant Compass Lounge, with its feature bar and huge picture windows that provide great views, is a welcoming place to sit and just watch the world go by.

The Compass Lounge is a tempting option for Lunch, Afternoon Tea, a snack or a drink - whatever the time of day.

Leisure Facilities

Whatever the weather, the comfort and luxury of the Grand has something to offer everyone. For the more active, there is the Grand Leisure Suite with its 15m swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and sunbed as well as a multi-gym.

In the summer, there’s the pleasure of an outdoor pool, complete with fountain, children’s area and plenty of space in which to soak up the sun’s rays from the comfort of a sun lounger.

Conference & Wedding Facilities

In addition to all the comforts and leisure facilities you would expect in a hotel, The Grand has one of the most advanced conference facilities in the south west, accommodating from 4 to 300 delegates and is also a sought after wedding venue.

Conferences

The Grand Hotel can cater from 4 to 300 people. It has one of the most technologically advanced conference rooms in the Devonshire Suite (maximum 300), but also offers smaller venues from its intimate Chatsworth Suite to the terrace-facing Cavendish Suite.

In addition to dedicated conference suites, the Grand Hotel also offers a beautiful function venue in its newly refurbished Gainsborough Restaurant. The Gainsborough accommodate up to 300 people for a banquet or 200 people for a Dinner Dance.

Wedding Ceremony & Banqueting Suites:

Chatsworth Suite
A beautifully decorated room, which is able to accommodate up to 12 people, for an intimate Civil Ceremony followed by a Wedding Breakfast.

Cavendish Suite
This delightful room with its sea views leading on to a terrace area offers the ideal venue for a Civil Ceremony, offering space for 60 people to attend and to hold a Wedding Breakfast.

Gainsborough Restaurant
Decorated in traditional Edwardian style, with panoramic views over the bay, this is an excellent choice for a civil ceremony followed by a Wedding Breakfast. We are able to accommodate up to 200 people in this room. There is a time limit due to the Gainsborough Restaurant being our residential dinning room. Please contact us for details.

Devonshire Suite
This attractive spacious room has everything to offer, a Civil Ceremony up to 250 guests, a Wedding Breakfast catering up to 140 guests and an Evening Reception for up to 300 guests. Situated on the ground floor, this room has state of the art air conditioning and lighting. With a picturesque domed ceiling fitted with a Chandelier, complete with private bar.

Torbay Area

Torbay is an ideal leisure base due to its proximity to some of the best places to visit in the county. Dartmoor and its landscape, varying from chocolate box pretty to dramatically rugged, is a short drive away.

Wet weather attractions, such as the National Marine Aquarium, with its underwater viewing tunnel, are all in comfortable visiting distance.

The Torbay area has a wonderful selection of shops, from high street names to antiques and crafts as well as a vibrant arts and entertainment scene.
