BEAUTIFUL FURNISHED RESTAURANT Our beautifully furbished restaurant, with exquisite charm and relaxing atmosphere, seats up to 80, offering a whole host of menus, ranging from a la carte and banquets to traditional Sunday luncheon.
The perfect setting for a wedding reception, specially designed for the 'romantic at heart', with all the finishing touches that seem to have long gone from the majority of restaurants today.
Open to non-residents is the spacious lounge bar serving traditional cask ales, bar lunches, bistro and steak evenings.
Bar meals are served every lunchtime and evening with the exception of Sunday Luncheon when the hotel offers a choice of joints from the carvery, or traditional Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding served with onion gravy.
ADJACENT TO THE RIVER HOLME Positioned adjacent to the river Holme in the centre of the small town of Holmfirth, The Old Bridge Hotel is a recent conversion of a private gentlemen's residence, part of which dates back to the early 1700s and it now consists of Bar Lounges with exposed oak beams and open fire, famous for its cask beers, malt whiskeys and generously portioned meals.
A function room seating 80, with a range of menus to cater for all occasions using local fresh produce and cooked to order.
SUMMER WINE FAME Holmfirth is renowned as the original location for filming "Last of the Summer Wine" the world's longest running comedy series. There is a Summer Wine Museum, and shops selling memorabilia, only a short distance from our hotel in Holmfirth.
Don't be surprised if you bump into familiar faces while staying at the Old Bridge. Some of the cast and crew of the Last of the Summer Wine - including Tom Owen - like to stay at the hotel during filming.
Bamforths Holmfirth's links with the film industry go much further back than this however. A local firm, Bamforths, were making films in this area before the First World War, long before Hollywood.
POSTCARD MUSEUM This same firm were also responsible for printing most of the "Saucy" Picture Postcards that you used to find at the Seaside during annual holidays.
These are now much sought after by collectors and there is a popular Picture Postcard Museum in the local cinema, built originally by Bamforths to show their films.
A GREAT BASE TO EXPLORE Not just breathtaking Pennine hills and scenery - but also state-of-the-art shopping centres, museums, culture and commerce - all within easy reach! Holmfirth is superbly situated to explore Manchester (Trafford Centre), Leeds (Milan-style café-shops and clubbing), Sheffield (Meadowhall Shopping Centre), Bradford (National Film and TV Museum), Wakefield (National Mining Museum) and Halifax (Piece Hall and Eureka Children's Museum). And at the end of a busy day, unwind back at the Old Bridge for a guaranteed warm and friendly welcome.
STUNNING BEAUTY OF THE PENNINE HILLS Adjacent to the Peak District National Park the town is overshadowed by the stunning beauty of the Pennine Hills with the notorious Pennine way cutting across the adjoining moors.
The local countryside is criss-crossed by footpaths and bridleways making it ideal for a short ramble or a more serious hike.
All this and yet we are only minutes away from Manchester with its International Airport and Trafford Shopping Centre, Sheffield with its Meadow Hall shopping centre, Leeds with the fastest growing business community in England, York steeped in history, Bradford with its National Film and TV Museum, Halifax with its historic Piece Hall and Eureka Children's Museum, Wakefield with the National Mining Museum and a host of castles, cathedrals and country houses.
Scenery, History, Convenience, Culture, Commerce, all on our doorstep!
