The Kings Head Inn set back off the village green is what everyone would imagine a timeless English Inn to look like. With the brook running through it and the ducks wandering freely around the Green, the pub looks delightful. Once inside no-one is ever disappointed. The original inglenook fireplace dominates one end of the pub and with the old oak beams,Cotswold stone walls and low ceilings the main bar exudes warmth and charm.
Location
The tranquil village of Bledington lies in the heart of the Cotswolds right on the Gloucestershire / Oxfordshire border 3 miles from the market town of Stow-on-the-Wold. There are many beautiful villages in the Cotswolds and Bledington is definitely one of them having successively won the Bledisloe Cup for the " Best Kept Village Award
History
The village has been established for centuries and the existing Norman Church close to the pub is testament to this. The pub itself dates back to the late 1500's when it was a cider house. Its origins as a hostelry go back along way. The first man of repute to sign the visitors book was Prince Rupert of the Rhine who lodged here prior to The Battle of Stow (1646). It is likely that the pub got its name after the restoration of the monarchy as the area was always notoriously Royalist.
Bedrooms
The delightful bedrooms are all furnished to compliment the unique 16th century character of the Inn. All are en-suite with colour television, tea/coffee making facilities, telephone, use of the residents' lounge and private roof terrace.
We have bedrooms above the pub and around our pretty courtyard area.
Please note, there is a minimum 2 night stay at weekends.
Restaurant
Ask anyone in the Cotswolds about "The Kings Head " and they will all know it, above all, for its excellent food and highly personalised service. It's reputation is far more reaching than that - In 2001 The Good Pub Guide awarded us 'Dining Pub of the Year'.
Everything is prepared in- house. Meat is bought from a renowned local butcher and we guarantee that none is imported. In winter, game is always on the menu. Fish comes fresh from Cornwall daily. The vegetables are all homegrown in the nearby Evesham Vale. There are always excellent vegetarian dishes on the menu. On the cheeseboard, there is a serious selection of local and foreign cheeses.
Let's not forget another big reason to come to the pub; a well stocked bar, well kept real ales and a cellar full of wine. We serve Hook Norton Best all year around with 2 varying guest ales We have a wine list with over 40 wines ranging from our 10 house wines up to the classic French selection
