No longer a working farm, Newton Farmhouse is an historic 16c, Grade II listed building, which was formerly part of the Trafalgar Estate, gifted to Lord Nelson's family following his death at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805; it remained in the family until 1947. The house has been extensively altered over the years, but retains such features as flagstone floors, exposed oak beams, an original bread oven in the inglenook fireplace and a well inside the conservatory.
Newton Farmhouse is set in 2.5 acres and guests are invited to make full use of the garden. Outdoor games such as croquet, badminton and 'swing ball' are available on request and bicycles are available for the adventurous. Some indoor (board) games are also available, together with plenty of reading material for a rainy day.
The swimming pool is available for guests enjoyment; sun loungers and shades are set out for your comfort. Please note that use of the pool is entirely at your own risk and children should be supervised by an adult at all times.

Chefs Corner
We hope that there is something on the menu to please and tempt everyone. Only the best fresh ingredients are used, carefully prepared, cooked and presented to you in relaxed surroundings.
A full cooked English breakfast is served between 8 and 9 am. For those with a 'healthy' appetite the cold sideboard contains chilled orange juices, a variety of fresh fruits according to the season - freshly sliced melon, prunes, segmented fresh grapefruit, figs in syrup, baby figs, a choice of breakfast cereals and a selection of yoghurts. This can be followed with toast (home-made white, wholemeal and granary bread) together with home-made seville orange marmalade and preserves (Plum, Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackcurrant or Gooseberry).
Evening meals are by prior arrangement only, for 6 or more people and are served at 7 pm. Once again, local produce is used, wherever possible coming from our own kitchen and herb garden. Special dietary requirements can be catered for and special parties and group bookings are also undertaken by arrangement.
Although we are not licenced, guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic refreshment.
The Area
Newton Farmhouse is situated 6 miles from the Cathedral city of Salisbury (which boasts the highest spire in England, an original copy of the Magna Carta and the oldest known working clock).
The ancient monument of Stonehenge is close by and we are on the edge of New Forest, where wild ponies and deer can be seen roaming freely.
We are conveniently located for visits to the historic Cathedral city of Winchester and the maritime city of Portsmouth with Lord Nelson's flagship 'HMS Victory' and HMS Warrior, the first ever iron clad warship. There are also numerous maritime museums including the 'Mary Rose' museum, where Henry VIII's flagship is now housed together with 1,200 artifacts which were found following the recovery of the vessel in 1982 from the sea bed where she lay undisturbed since 1545.
The area is renowned for the many National Trust properties and gardens which are open to visitors. Other nearby attractions include Heal and Exbury gardens, Broadlands, Avebury, Longleat, Poultons Park, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Wilton House and many, many more, plus excellent fishing, walking, horse riding and golf.
Wiltshire is noted for its beautiful rolling countryside with Salisbury plain to the North, dotted with picturesque villages and rivers such as the Avon and Test. The city of Bath is just 50 miles away and the traveller can choose between quiet country roads, or high speed modern motorways. Gatwick airport is approximately 2 hours away and Heathrow 1.5 hours, as is central London, traffic permitting!
Here at Newton Farmhouse there is plenty of off-road parking in the courtyard and privately owned bicycles may be secured overnight.

Immediately after the Layby there is a small crossroads marked on the map as 'NEWTON'. We are exactly at the junction on the left hand side; look for the 'B & B' sign.
