The Mad Hatter Hotel is located in Southwark on the south Side of the River Thames near to Blackfriars Bridge. The building was a former hat factory, hence the hotels rather unusual name.

Behind this typical nineteenth century London facade is an up-to-date hotel, with every modern facility in its 30 large comfortable bedrooms. It's close to one of the oldest parts of London, the 'Borough', well known to Shakespeare and Dickens.

The Mad Hatter is perfectly placed if you have business in the City of London, a half-mile taxi ride takes you straight into the City. For the leisure traveller there's a lot more to see and do closer to hand. Tate Modern, London's new world-class museum of modern art is a few minutes away.

Beyond it is Shakespeare's Globe theatre, the National Theatre, the Royal Festival Hall and the Hayward Gallery and, of course, the London Eye. Covent Garden and the Strand are only about a mile away and Oxford Street, Regent Street and Soho half a mile or so further on.

Accommodation

The Mad Hatter Hotel features 30 modernly equipped guest rooms. The rooms feature private bathrooms, satellite television, tea and coffee making facilities and trouser press. Rooms are larger than usual and are modernly decorated.

Food & Drink

The Fuller's Ale & Pie House on the ground floor of the Mad Hatter is a welcoming London pub, and an ideal place to meet and greet friends or colleagues for lunch, an informal evening meal, or just a drink. The food is home-cooked and the drinks are brewed by Fullers.

Nearby Attractions

Nearby attractions include the Tate Modern, Shakepeares Globe Theatre, London iMAX Cinema, Royal National Theatre, Bankside Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, Design Museum, London Dungeon, London Eye, HMS Belfast, Vinopolis (for wine lovers), Borough Market (which has its origins in medieval times and is reputed to be over 700 years old) and of course, the River Thames.

Getting Around

The nearby Blackfriars Bridge gives Mad Hatter guests a gateway to the City and West End. Waterloo Bridge offers guests a direct route to The Strand and Aldwych. Take a taxi a few minutes South, and you will arrive at Elephant and Castle and then Kennington Oval. The Elephant and Castle and London Bridge stations offers the Thameslink connection to Luton Airport, Gatwick Airport, Wimbledon, Brighton , Hendon and St Albans to name just a few. Southwark station also connects passengers to Bermonsey, Rotherhithe, Canary Wharf and the Docklands Light Railway for Excel and London City Airport.

Directions

The nearest tube stations are Southwark and Waterloo. From Southwark station walk along Blackfriars Road towards the bridge and away from Elephant & Castle. Take a left turn into Stamford Street at the traffic lights and we are on the left.

From Waterloo station, take 3rd exit at roundabout, which is Stamford Street - it is a 10min. walk from there, we are right at the bottom along Stamford Street.
