Welcome to 17 Burgate, an elegant Georgian Market Town House situated in the heart of the market town of Pickering between the town centre and the castle, offering deluxe individually designed and furnished en suite accommodation.

17 has been sympathetically renovated to retain the features and charm of its long history dating back to the 17th Century, whilst at the same time all the requirements of the discerning modern traveler have been included and are supported by service based on what the customer wants.

Accommodation

17 is a non smoking establishment. Guests are therefore requested to refrain within the house. An additional charge of £50.00 will be made automatically for room cleaning.

We have a car park is at the rear of the hotel accessed from Willowgate, where you can park throughout your stay.

Supper dishes are available at any time, ideal for late arrivals

Bedroom Facilities

Each bedroom has a flat screen television with Freeview and DVD, hairdryer, trouser press, waffle dressing gowns, complimentary hot drinks tray, B.T. telephone, internet connection for use throughout the house, easy and upright chairs and writing table. In addition there are fluffy towels, aromatic candles, and luxury spa therapy toiletries.

Room 11 is a superior size bedroom with a lounge area
Room 12 is a Suite with separate lounge area with leather seating, that can also be converted into a twin
Room 14 is a superior size bedroom, with an amazing winged antique bed
Room 15 has a large walk in shower as an alternative to a bath and overlooks the courtyard and gardens
Room 16 is a soft relaxing room at the rear of the property

Local hand made Chocolates, bouquets of flowers, chilled bottle of champagne, wine or a basket of fruit can be arranged in advance

17 has been designed for relaxing. Savour a bottle of chilled Chablis, in the court yard with its perfume of summer flowers and day long sun, or lounge on the patio – close your eyes and listen to the church bells and whistle of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train. Alternatively enjoy a glass of vintage armagnac or a local beer, within the depths of one of our soft leather sofa in the lounge bar in front of the log burning stove.

Light your candles, fill your bath with bubbles and let the cares of the day slip away. Lie back in your antique bed and watch Freeview or a DVD on your flat screen TV. Relax in leather armchairs with an in-room picnic and a bottle of fine wine. Soft colours, mood lighting, modern audio/visual facilities, broadband access - a superb combination of the traditional and modern.

Feeling peckish? Sample our all day suppers. Choose where you eat – your room, the bar or restaurant, or even take it with you on your day out. Match it from our developing wine list which includes some unexpected surprises. The bar carries a full stock and we like to use it all – talk to us about cocktails, vintage grappa and well aged armagnac.

Arrival and Departure

Guests are requested to check out by 11.00 a.m. and check in from 4.30 p.m. How ever, if you would like to arrive earlier then please let us know when making a reservation. By all means leave your car in the car park and explore Pickering.

Cancellation Policy

Reservations can be guaranteed by credit or debit card - no amount is normally charged until check out. You can also guarantee rooms by cheque, in which case we ask for the first night's accommodation charge to be sent in advance. Reservations cancelled within 72 hours of arrival will be charged the full amount, unless the room is re-let. Cancellations within 7 days of arrival, a £30 non-refundable deposit per room will be held against a future booking.

How to find us by Road

Pickering is located 40 minutes from York and 30 minutes from Scarbrough and 30 minutes from Helmsley
From the South – From the M18, M1, M62 or A1 follow signs to the A64 York. The York ring road links with the A19, A1079 and A59 and adjoins the A64 which links Scarborough to Leeds. From the A64 north of Malton follow the A169 to Pickering

From the North and East – From the A1 (A1(M)) or A59 follow the A61 to Thirsk and the A170 to Pickering
