Marmadukes Luxury is York’s Finest Small Hotel, situated just a short walk from the Minster and the ancient walls of this world famous City.

We have taken a classic Victorian Gentleman’s residence and created a beautifully designed family owned and operated Hotel with an emphasis on comfort and friendliness. With sumptuous handcrafted beds and Georgian and Victorian antique furnishings, our interior designers have carefully blended the traditional with the contemporary style.

Rooms

All our beds have been handcrafted by Warner Brothers prop maker Jonathan Tebbs who designs and makes each bed for the Harry Potter movies. In brass, iron and wood, Jonathan has created a range of magical beds for Marmadukes from Four Posters to doubles and singles.

Interior Designer Julia Wade has specified stunning Italian fabrics and furnished the rooms with antiques, many dating back to the early 19th Century.

Depending on the class of your room, your bathroom with either have a Victorian style bath with shower head, a standard bath with shower over, or an invigorating full body power shower.

* Marmadukes Standard Rooms have ordinary hairdryers and no electric shaver points.

You can choose to take our cooked breakfast in the Morning Room or if you prefer breakfast in bed we will deliver our Luxury Continental Bento Breakfast direct to your room at the time you require.

Whether it’s a pot of freshly brewed coffee and a round of sandwiches in the afternoon, or an extra pillow in the middle of the night, call us from your room telephone and we’ll do everything we can to help.


Harvilles

Harvilles is owned by Marmadukes and located on Fossgate, the City’s premier restaurant street.

In contemporary surroundings Award Winning Chef John Griffiths assisted by ‘Fat Pete’ Haldenby runs one of the City’s best kitchens cooking only fresh Yorkshire produce. Harvilles has a great atmosphere whether you’re dining in the main restaurant or sipping Champagne in the Oyster Cellar.

Harvilles is open 7 days a week and we can arrange a complimentary guest taxi to or from the Restaurant.

Harvilles will be closed from June 1 until mid July for extensive refurbishment. Reception will be pleased to offer other excellent alternatives during this time.


Boodles Bar & Lounge

Boodles Bar and Lounge at Marmadukes is open each day from 11am until 12pm, serving a choice of fresh coffees and a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits. Freshly made sandwiches and our own oven fired pizzas are available in the bar from 12 noon until 9pm.

SKY TV with all the News, Sports and Movie channels is provided in the Lounge, as is a PC station with high speed broadband internet access.

Roman Garden

The walled garden at Marmadukes is built directly on a Roman Burial Ground, established over two thousand years ago. In fact, it is so important that we are not allowed to dig more than a few centimetres down without the York Archaeological Department being in attendance!

Surrounded by lavender, the Roman Garden is a quiet, wonderful place to sit, read a book and relax before venturing off to soak up more of the splendour of this wonderful, historic City.


Relaxation Suite

If you feel like chilling out for an hour or so, then head for our Relaxation Suite where you’ll find a Sauna, Hot Tub, Plunge Shower, Tanning Booth and Exercise Equipment with MTV.

The Relaxation Suite is open everyday from 7am until 9pm. Towels are provided.

Location

Marmadukes Luxury is 600 meters from the ancient City gates of Bootham Bar, opposite St Peter’s School (est. 621 AD).
We are on the Thirsk Road (A19) from the Centre of York.

It’s a five minute walk to the gates down Bootham, which is one of the oldest roads in York. Bootham itself is an oasis of tranquillity in this hectic Medieval City.

*14 Car Parking spaces are available free of charge to Guests on a first come, first served basis. This is conditional on car keys being handed into Reception.
