The History of the Saracens Head, stretching back more than four hundred years, is featured in Charles Dickens' first novel, 'The Pickwick Papers, currently blends into the atmosphere and splendour of this restored hotel. The Saracens Head Hotel is today the centrepiece of modern life in Towcester, as it has been for centuries.
The same homely comforts which were enjoyed by Charles Dickens when visiting Towcester have been restored and blended with 2000's luxury. the continuing story of this hotel, proudly offers excellent standards of comfort and service to the discerning guest.
The Resident's Lounge with its original open fireplace and leaded windows, provides an impressive classic surrounding for guests to meet visitors, or later to retire with a book.
Accommodation
Our 20 en-suite bedrooms are situated on two floors. All rooms are Non-Smoking. Smoking areas are still available in the bar area.

Dining at The Saracens Head Hotel
The spacious restaurant recalls the glory from the Victorian era, its arched ceiling is now decorated with chandeliers made from the original bell of the local church. The menu offers a range of dishes using fresh produce which are complemented by an extensive wine list.
The Lounge Bar welcomes locals and visitors to relax over a glass as they have done for hundreds of years. The split level bar offers three distinct areas of relaxation where delicious snacks are available.
Functions
The Saracens Head Hotel is also the perfect venue for both conferences and weddings, with function suites for up to 100 guests. We can tailor make your day for any occasion, from a business meeting, wedding or party.
Conferences
The Pickwick Room is situated on the ground floor, close to our bar and restaurant. This grand ballroom is ideal for presentations, exhibitions and conferences of up to 80.
The Oak Room is situated on the ground floor close to our reception area. This charming conference room with its open fireplace and original oak beams is ideal for smaller conferences, meetings and interviews for up to 12 people.
The Fermor Room is situated on the ground floor adjacent to the bar and Pickwick Room, so it would be ideal as a syndicate room. The room is available from 10.30a.m. - 5.30p.m. and can accommodate 25 delegates

This former coaching inn, restored to it glory in recent years offers modern luxury within a classic setting. The arched ceilings of the Pickwick Room have chandeliers made from the original bell wheels of a local church. This, and the adjoining Restaurant provide the perfect setting for a wedding reception. Upstairs there are 20 bedrooms, all en-suite, many with original oak beams. There are also two romantic premier rooms with four-poster beds.
When booking your wedding at the Saracens Head, our friendly and experienced team will take you from your initial enquiry through to the moment you leave the hotel as husband and wife. We are able to provide expert advice that will take away a lot of the pressure that one can experience when planning one of the most important days of their life.
Wedding Licence
We are licensed to hold Civil Wedding Ceremonies in the hotel and we would be delighted to host your entire day, from the Ceremony through to the Wedding Breakfast and Evening Reception.
If you wish to marry at The Saracens Head you should first contact the Superintendent Registrar of the district where you wish to marry.
A notice of marriage is valid for 12 months. You may therefore not give notice to the Registrar Superintendent more than twelve months before the date of your marriage. However you may be allowed to make an advance (provisional) booking.

Situated on the Roman Watling Street, the Saracen's Head is ideally placed for a day at Towcester Racecourse, generally accepted as the toughest National Hunt course in Britain. Silverstone, for racing of a different kind, is just three miles away. Also nearby is Stoke Bruerne, a canal village with cottages and colourful narrow boats.
