Situated on the A167, The Honest Lawyer Hotel is located just 2 miles south of historic Durham City in a scenic setting between the Wear and Browney rivers.

The hotel offers 56 en-suite bedrooms (46 in courtyard style), an Executive Suite, Deluxe Rooms, and disable-adapted rooms. In addition to the standard features all bedrooms have power showers, digital TV/DVD/CD, telephone/data, wireless broadband access, internet kiosks, CCTV, ramp access parking, ample floodlit parking and late check-in.

From 1st February 2006, The Honest Lawyer Hotel will be completely non smoking in the main building, which includes the Bar, Restaurant and accommodation in the main building. We are aiming to achieve the coveted Silver Award. We will however have a few bedrooms in the courtyard that permit smoking.

Accommodation

All of our bedrooms are en-suite with telephone/data, TV/DVD/CD.
The bedrooms are furnished to a higher standard than would be expected, with original and reproduction furniture, fixtures and fittings.

We also offer family linked bedrooms.

Deluxe Rooms and Executive Suites are also available, offering an even higher standard of furnishings

The Restaurant

We offer traditional and contemporary meals in our a la carte restaurant, catering for all palettes and ages. The menu is wide and varied utilising where ever possible local produce, reflecting the simple but stylish surroundings. Head Chef Mark Whiteley varies the menu to reflect seasonal variations.

The Bar

The bar is welcome to 'all comers' you do not need to be a resident. We serve a selection of local real ale. As well as a fully stocked bar for the casual drinker, meeting or working lunch. We offer a surprisingly different selection of main courses and lighter snacks in the bar from 12noon until 6pm Monday to Saturday.

The Bar opens at 11am, and closes for all guests at 11pm Monday to Saturday; and 12noon until 10.30pm on Sunday

Private Functions / Weddings

The Burnigill Suite at The Honest Lawyer Hotel can make that “Special Occasion” very special indeed.

Suitable for Christenings, Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries and other private occasions, it can accommodate up to 50 guests for banquet menus and up to 80 guests for buffet menus with prices to suit all budgets.

Corporate Facilities

Our Burnigill Suite is available for Conferences, Meetings, Training Seminars, and presentations from 6 to 80 delegates. Full audio and visual equipment is available within the Burnigill Suite.
