The mother of all Mals, and over a decade later shes still mighty fine. Just a short taxi ride from Princes Street and across the waters of Leith and you’re home to mama. In her previous lives she’s been a haven for lost seamen, fleeing royals and the less reputable ladies of the night. In this life she attracts the culture vultures, alfresco dinners and socialites with mighty appetites.

Come sundown bar-side, a river of cocktails pour and her soundtrack to the evening goes deep and soulful.

Time for bed says mother. Why not try the haunted turret room or the original Mal room 121.

Rooms

Typical for Malmaison each of the hundred rooms is uniquely designed – some with bold colours and stripes and some with muted subtle tones and some with harbour views.

For a rush of decadence visit room 121. A four-poster bed stands in the middle of a large, high ceiling room draped in regal coloured fabrics with fantastic views over the cobbled courtyard to the River Leith.

All our rooms have the complete set of Mal ingredients - great beds for sleepy heads, moody lighting, power showers, CD players, CD libraries, satellite TV, serious wines and naughty nibbles. Other little luxuries include fast and free internet access, same-day laundry, toiletries that you’re encouraged to take with you and ‘vroom’ room service for breakfast, dinner or those midnight munchies!

Brasserie

Our heart and soul – busy, buzzy and bustling. Our brasserie has recently been restored to its original atmospheric glory - dressed with leather banquettes and an abundance of candle light and wrought ironwork creating a romantic and seductive atmosphere.

Always serious about food and wine but never losing our sense of fun and enjoyment.

Bar

A real destination watering hole on the water front. Light and airy during the day with an outdoor terrace overlooking the water adding to the cosmopolitan feel. An all day menu of snacks and light meals, interesting wines and signature cocktails will keep you enjoying the atmosphere throughout the day and into the night.

Business

Business or pleasure, our four meeting rooms are ideal for a business meeting or private dinner from 5 to 50. All with natural daylight our versatile meeting rooms can accommodate a boardroom meeting up to 30 people or a business presentation up to 70.

Complimentary internet access is available in the meeting rooms – or for those impromptu meetings – wireless connection is available in our lobby and bar.
