With its beautiful black and white gabled façade and its perfect location in the centre of Shakespeare's Stratford. An ideal location to explore the many quaint villages and houses in the surrounding area, or come for a relaxing weekend and enjoy the shops and theatres of Stratford. The Tudor façade and original stone floor in the hotel's reception suggest a style of wealthy living pre-dating the Bard himself.

Over the years the Shakespeare has been a firm favourite with politicians, diplomats, business people and scholars alike. Subtle touches like open fires in the lounge during winter months and a traditional menu in the restaurant help create a wonderfully peaceful and friendly ambience.

David Garrick Restaurant

The David Garrick Restaurant has a long-standing reputation for producing food of a high standard in the local area. Using the freshest local and seasonal ingredients, our chef and his team, create a weekly changing menu that mixes the traditional with a modern influence. The David Garrick Restaurant has recently been awarded two AA Rosettes.

With our extensive wine list always available, we are creating and giving the dining experience one would expect of a four star hotel.

As many of the guests that stay at the Mercure Shakespeare come to enjoy the Royal Shakespeare Theatre we provide the ideal solution to their dining needs, a starter and main course prior to the performance and dessert and coffee on return to the hotel.

The restaurant is also available to non-residents for dinner and also for Sunday lunch, which is proving extremely popular with the local residents.
Our chef and his team are happy to cater for any dietary requirements that our guests may have.

The Quill Bar and Lounge

The Quill bar is located at the front of the hotel and is cool in summer months and cosy in winter with log fires and old oak beams. Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea, with delicious home made scones and clotted cream or indulge yourself in a more substantial tea with freshly cut sandwiches and wonderful, delicious cakes.

During the evening it is the ideal location to meet friends for cocktails or choose a glass of wine of the endless wine list, before going through to dinner in the David Garrick restaurant.
